Obituary of Irene Mary VanRaemdonck
VANRAEMDONCK, Irene Mary (May 26, 1923 – August 7, 2020)
It is with great sadness that the family of Irene VanRaemdonck, of Chatham, announces her passing on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Meadow Park Nursing Home at the age of 97. Beloved wife of 70 years to the late Leonard VanRaemdonck (March 2016).
Irene was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Dutry (nee DeKeyzer).
She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, Dennis (Susan) Dutry, Darrell (Jennifer) Dutry, Diane (Vic) Poissant, David (Darlene) VanThournout, Cathy (Dutry) VanThournout. Also survived by great niece, Brittney Poissant, and great nephew Matthew Dutry. Irene was also predeceased by her sister Madeline Dutry, and brothers Cyril and Maurice Dutry.
Irene was an excellent homemaker who always kept everything immaculate. For many years she and Leonard hosted many family holiday events and celebrations.
Irene and Leonard also enjoyed many worldwide travels together on the many cruises that they took with their friends.
Irene was a devout Catholic who practiced her faith throughout her life time.
She was also a member of St. Joseph's Parish Catholic Women's League for over 50 years.
Despite the recent health issues that faced her, Irene maintained a great sense of humour and loved to laugh, which was always a joy to family members and friends who visited her.
Special thanks are extended to the staff of Meadow Park Nursing Home, for their exceptional care and compassion of Irene during her final days.
Family and friends are invited to the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral home, 156 William Street South, Chatham 519-352-5120, on Tuesday, August 11, 2020, with visitation on the morning of the funeral from 10-10:30 AM.
The funeral service will be conducted at Blessed Sacrament Church, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Private family interment will take place at Maple Leaf Cemetery Mausoleum.
