Obituary of Betty Kirby
Mrs. Betty Louise Kirby (nee Brown) passed away peacefully in Chatham, Ontario on August 31st, 2020 at the age of ninety-five. Betty was born on October 24, 1924 in Chatham, Ontario, one of five children to Arlington and Nancy Brown.
Betty and Clayton were married at Chatham’s First Baptist Church on November 18, 1947. They were blessed with four children-Arlington, Leonard, Kimberly, and Theresa. They raised their family in Windsor, Ontario. Her tireless faith and firm belief in God were a source of comfort all of her days.
She had a full career with the Canada Customs Agency for thirty-two years. She was a faithful member and trustee of the First Baptist Church of Windsor and in later years was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chatham. Betty will be remembered for her lifelong enthusiasm for reading spiritual texts and world history. She and her husband Clayton enjoyed many winters in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Left to treasure her memory are her son Kimberly Kirby and daughter, Theresa Kirby; Seven grandchildren-Nicole, Jesse, Celeste, Arlington, Kirsten, Erica and Alice; five great-grandchildren-Adorah, Logan, Keira, Jasper and Evelyn. She is predeceased by her husband, Clayton, her beloved sons, Arlington and Leonard, and her brothers-Delmer, Leonard, James and Murray. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place September 3rd, 2020 in Chatham from 11am-1pm. Reverend David Tatsu will officiate the service at 1:00 pm with burial immediately afterwards at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
