Obituary of Maria Ramsz
Maria (Tiahur) Ramsz of Chatham, Ontario passed away at the Village on the Thames Residence on October 3rd, 2020 to join the angels in heaven having earned her heavenly wings.
The mother of Donna (George) Chrzanowski of Woodstock and Andrew (Olga) Ramsz of Belle River, grandmother of Stephen (Erica) Chrzanowski of Waterloo, Tony Chrzanowski of Woodstock, David (Jaime) Chrzanowski of London, Katherine (Nathan Swygert) of Aurora IL, Natalie (Bryan Bachus) of Palmetto FL, Great grandmother of Hunter, Alex, Emma, Quinton, Emmit and Asher.
Born September 2, 1924 in Dowszka Ukraine, she and the family immigrated to Canada in 1961 from Poland for better opportunities in a land of unknown with other members in the Ukrainian community.
Majority of her working years were spent at St Joseph’s and St Ursula’s Church as the housekeeper preparing meals for the clergy and caring for their household needs.
Recently she celebrated her 96th birthday with family and friends. She would just light up when she saw the grandchildren and great grandchildren, some in person and some by FaceTime to sing her their Happy Birthday wish.
Survived by sister Zonia in Ukraine and cousins Stefania (late Mike Jarema) of St Catherine’s, Orest (late Maria) Tiahur and other extended family members in Ukraine.
Predeceased by her parents Semen and Maria, loving husband of 60 years Josef, sisters Julia and Perania, brothers Dmytro, and Wasyl.
May she Rest In Peace with her soul mate Josef.
Funeral visitation and service will be held in the Chapel at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral home 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Tuesday October 6, 2020 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm.
Service on Wednesday October 7, 2020 at 11 am with Rev. Eugene Halitsky officiating.
