Obituary of Mike Habas

Please share a memory of Mike to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with broken hearts that we announce that Mike “Miatic” Habas passed away peacefully in his sleep, on March 3rd, 2017. Mike has joined his wife Josephine (Jo), and his son Mitchell, in eternal peace. He will be sorely missed by his sister Kazia, his children Andrea, Paula, Cheryl (Bishop) Habas and Javier Valdivieso; and his granddaughters Danielle and Jaclyn. Mike was born in Gromnik, Poland. Throughout his life he was proud of his Polish heritage, and was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory Parish. Mike was an exceptional athlete in his youth, and was a constant presence at his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events; especially the Tecumseh Braves football games. Mike was a classic example of the Canadian dream. He came to this country as a young boy, not speaking the language; made his way through school; and went to work for more than thirty years at Ontario Steel. Mike and his wife Josephine worked long and hard to provide their children with a beautiful home and all of the opportunities needed for them to pursue their dreams. In their golden years, Mike and Josephine found great joy in doting on their beloved grandchildren. The Habas family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Meadow Park Nursing Home where Mike lived his last few months. We are grateful not only for the exceptional care that Mike received, but for the kindness and affection which was shown to him. Mike’s funeral will take place on Wednesday March 8th at 11.00 a.m. at our Lady of Victory Parish. As per Mike’s wishes, there will be no visitation.
