Obituary of Mario DeVito
With his family by his side at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chatham Campus, on Tuesday June 22, 2021, Mario DeVito, age 91, of Chatham, beloved husband of Mariantonia (DeFeo) DeVito. Born in Castelevere, Italy in 1930, son of the late Pasqualina (Ceccaci) and Antonio DeVito.
Mario was a Master Bricklayer by trade until his retirement and a member of St. Ursula’s Church. Our dad was happiest when he was surrounded by the people he loved, whether it was sharing a meal, having a glass of wine or an espresso. He loved being able to share his stories of his youth in Italy and early years in Canada with his children and grandchildren. He showed us that hard work and perseverance pays off and no matter what life throws at you to never give up. He was a fighter! Forever in our Hearts and never forgotten.
Loving father of Tony (Anna), Frank (Heidi) and Enzo (Paola). Cherished nonno to Lisa (Anthony), Christina (Ljubomir), Sabrina (Robert), Mario (Stephanie), Franco (Jayne), Stephanie, Massimo (Monica), Gianluca and Alessandro and by 7 great grandchildren; Hunter, Dominic, Alex, Leonardo, Ellie, Amaya and Mila. Dear brother of Sigismondo DeVito.
Also sadly missed by 1 sister, 3 brothers in Italy and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by 1 sister and 3 brothers.
