Obituary of Henry Robert

Peacefully surrounded by  his family at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chatham Campus, on Wednesday July 28, 2021, Henry Francis Robert, age 85, of Grande Pointe, beloved husband of Elsie (Toulouse) Robert.

Born in Windsor in 1935, son of the late Cecilia (Simard) and Leo Robert. Loving father of Gail & Jerome Blair (Andraya and Joshua),  Judy & Jim Wood (Rob & Candise, Mike & Morgan, Tiffany  & Aaron, Jason & Melanie), Brenda & Tim Shipley (Olivia & Celia),  Darlene Robert & Serge Rodrigue (Nadia & Clay).

Cherished great grandfather of Tyler (Natasha), Rachel, Bobbie Lynn, Brooklyn, Jayla, Jackson, Faryn & Lilly. Dear brother of Donald (Bernice) Robert, Lawrence (Anne) Robert, Annette Regnier, Jeannette (Bev) Handsor, and chosen sister Mary (Tom) Burton. Brother-in-law of Eileen Ross (late Floyd 2000). Also sadly missed by his goddaughter Christine Regnier and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by an infant sister Shirley (1940), his brother Paul Robert (2005) and his wife Germaine (2011) and grandson JR Wood (2003).  Dad cherished all family gatherings, some of which included playing euchre. His love of the outdoors included cutting grass, growing his garden, hunting and fishing. Dad was always up for an adventure.

Henry retired from Active Canada in 2000, where he took great pride in delivering International trucks to the East and the West Coast. His love for the road was always expressed in the stories he shared.

To honour Henry’s dislike of wearing a tie, please feel free to not wear one. 

Visitation will take place for friends and relatives at the Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Tuesday August 3, 2021 from 1-3 pm. 

A private family funeral service will then be conducted in the Chapel of the Funeral Home and will be live streamed.
