Dear Comiskey family. Jim’s death has left us so saddened. Our family go way back together in Chatham. All was mostly related to the church. It served us all well. JIm was always fun to be around. Later when he became our sprinkler guy we spent time on the back porch shooting the breeze while he an Jay had a beer. Lots of laughter and memories. His giant personality is missed. Our condolences to you all. How proud he was with the Hall of Fame inducting John and Dan. His family was his pride and with so many members he never ran out of stories. Rest In Peace. So many memories it will be fun to recount them. With our love Di and Jay Teetzel

Our deepest condolences to the Comiskey family. It was always a pleasure visiting with Jim. He was a proud father and great supporter of any endeavour in which a family member was involved. I particularly enjoyed family updates. He spoke with such enthusiasm and joy when discussing his family. When the Comiskey's and Allin's attended CCI, Jim's support was so strong, you could feel it. He was "larger than life" indeed. RIP Jim. You will be missed.

It's hard to pick one favourite memory of Grampa.
For starters, I enjoy reading each condolence and memory that identifies him as "larger than life"; he truly is.
When I was young, I remember having a conversation with Grampa about life and death. At the time, he told me "I'm not scared. I am, however, going to be the first man to live to 130." Anyone who knew Grampa knows that this is still true because his spirit will live on through the entire family forever. His heart touched everyone in his life.
When I was in the fifth grade, Grampa came in to talk to my class about politics. This began with the class going through the P section in the dictionary to try to find a word that Grampa didn't know. As you can imagine, nobody chose the words "politics", "politician", "premier"... none of that, because of course he would no those words. Ultimately, this leads to a lot of discussion about, well, not politics. Next, Grampa took to the chalkboard to write a giant comma, followed by a picture of a ski and had the class recite it to him. "COMMA SKI it says! Now you know! I don't want to hear any 'Cominskis' in here!" To this day peers from that class remember the lecture on our last name... and how they are afraid to pronounce it wrong. Not only that, but to this day I sign my signature with a decorative comma and ski at the end to honour this memory.
Grampa was many things: a teacher, a singer, a brother, a father, march 17th enthusiast, Superman.
He was the loud booming voice wherever he was. The voice addressing his grandchildren affectionately as "CHILDREN OF GODDDD".
He will be forever missed by all those whose lives he touched, but I truly believe that his spirit will live on within all of us and that he would be proud of the Danny Boys we've sung for him (although personally, I may not be quite in tune without him to lead).
Love and prayers to all of those who have felt this loss, he is certainly shining down on us with his big smile now.

The (Bob and Mary) Dunlop Family. It is only today we learned the passing of Jim. We were sad to hear the news. As kids Jim walked into our live bigger than life. He worked at the Chatham Daily News and frequented our home. He was generous with time in recent years before my mom passed and we spoke just after Dad passed. We have fond memories. Thoughts with his family and friends.

My dear Comiskey Family,
Our hearts goes out to you all at this very sad time. The sudden loss of Jim, your amazing brother, Dad and Grampa, must be extremely difficult for you all. Marty and I would have been there today for the Celebration of Jim’s life if circumstances were different here but unfortunately I can’t make the drive alone. I have many great memories of Jim, going back to when I was just a teenager and our family was visiting at the Comiskey home in Chatham. He was always great fun to be around. Recent recollections are of the family reunions, especially the one we held at the cottage in 2004 when the Comiskey Boys did their famous rendition of “Danny Boy”. I will always remember Jim as being my “larger than life cousin”! Rest well Jim and may you find peace and comfort in heaven with those family members who have gone before you. Our deepest sympathies to you all.
With much love, Marty & Mary (McMillen) Kings

My heart goes out to the family of Mr. Comiskey. He was one of a kind and certainly loved by all who met him! My mother taught with Jim and one of my fondest memories was a time when she was stuck in a meeting and unable to pick me up from school so he offered to come pick me up. I was probably about 8 years old and remember thinking he reminded me so much of the fun loving character Uncle Buck! He showed up in his big old classic car and he pulled up way past the point of where the cars are supposed to be. He drove his car all the way down the school yard concrete and around the corner to where my classroom door was. He was so cool about it and I remember thinking how only he could do that and not care about what anyone else might have thought LOL. I have always enjoyed running into Jim over the years and being greeted with his friendly smile and humour. I know he will be missed terribly. My sincerest condolences to the Comiskey family.

I met Mr Comiskey as a student at UCC. He worked with the Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) Club. He called me over one day and said, "Angela, you should join the OSAID club and I'm going to make you President" When I asked why? He responded with "... because you actually give a crap!". We ended up on a committee with MADD, local hospitals, police and fire departments, where we developed the IMPACT Program, to shed light on the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving to grade 11 students.
Mr Comiskey made a difference to myself, to each individual he met and to the community at large.
Thank you Mr Comiskey

Dear Comiskey Family
Our heartfelt condolences to each of you especially Jim, Danny and John.
Your Dad was an amazing guy and he certainly knew how to make an entrance and ohh that infectious smile!
Mr. Comiskey taught both Dennis and I Grade 11 English at Saint Mary’s High School in Prince Albert Sask. Indeed he had the gift to teach! We will never forget his “Mother Marion” classes where we were able to divert him from the curriculum to his many stories of Chatham and the Ursuline Sisters! Mr. Comiskey knew how to engage teenagers.
I lived across the street and spent many evenings babysitting those boys! And trying to help them with their French homework when all they really wanted to do was play sports!
Who knew that our lives would bring us to Chatham where we reconnected with Jim. He was always available to help us out. I will be forever grateful for the kindness Jim showed when I needed to return to Prince Albert to care for my mother and Jim found someone to watch my kids.
Jim will be missed by many. May he Rest In Peace and May his voice join in with all the heavenly angels.

To All of the Comiskey Family,
I still can’t quite believe that Jim has passed. He is a man so full of life - physically strong with a baritone voice that rings through the neighborhood. His presence fills any space he enters and what is now left in his absence is this weighty empty space. I had my first cry over his loss last night when I looked over to his house and saw the lights flashing in the upstairs window. Here is a man so full of life and love that the celebration never came down. The kids would always ask, “When is Jim taking those Christmas lights down?” And then later in the year, “Well, he may as well leave them up now.” And for a minute I could hear him singing, “Mona Lisa…Mona Lisa” with that parrot singing right back. Lol. The kids loved that so much when they were small. When I told them Jim has died, there was a long silence then my youngest said tearfully, “That means he won’t be there for Halloween. He is my favorite house because he always dresses up and tells good jokes.” I have so many fond memories of Jim - from teaching together to being neighbors. He has given kindness to our family in so many quiet gestures of help and friendship. My heart is with you as you come to terms with this sudden loss. Know that his memory will continue on in so many significant ways. Much love to all of the Comiskeys. And to Jim. We were just saying how happy Al Bondy will be to see you arrive on the other side. Our sorrow is joy for all of the love that has gone before him. We will meet again.

It is so very difficult to hear of the death of dear 'Uncle' Jim. He was best friends with our Dad, Larry DeKoning, and a constant and endearing presence in our home life in Chatham. He will be greatly missed by my brother Jason and I. I will always remember his booming voice, infectious laugh, firm handshake and the abundant fun and warmth that he gifted to our family. Thank you Jim, for your friendship, and for the many wise and amusing stories of our Dad. It was a great pleasure to know you so well. To, Jim, Dan, John, and the rest of the Comiskey clan, I am truly sorry for your loss. Jim was one of a kind.

Jim, Dan and John, and the Comiskey family. Our sincere condolences on your loss. Jim was a great friend, generous, kind, interesting and maybe a little opinionated. He was grateful for your accomplishments, and he will be with us in our hearts and memories. Betty and I wish all of you peace and comfort as we share Jim’s stories and remember him for the man he was.
