Christine and the Daddy Family, I remember meeting your dad a few times either at Harwich Raleigh or at the cottage. I remember him to be a sweet, compassionate man who loved his family very much. Thinking of all of you as you mourn his passing but also celebrate the man and his legacy.

My sincere condolences to Christine and her family. Mr. Doddy was such a kind person who taught by example. I will forever be grateful for knowing him, for teaching me about dogs and for most of all, introducing me to Fudge, which started my love of Chocolate Labs. A very special man indeed.

I feel so lucky to have had so many good years and great memories with you, Grandpa. I'll always cherish those early years with both you and Grandma. But not many men of your era could have bounced back from the loss of their beloved wife, and started a new chapter the way you did. From baking blueberry muffins to having the best lunches at your place every Wednesday all through school, to trips together and walks with Fudge at Rondeau, the time we spent together was special. I'm so glad Elspeth got to know you too as her great Grandpa. In the same way that the highest praise from you was that "Betty would have loved this," we'll always be thinking of you in those moments when "Grandpa would have loved this." - Ali, Danielle, and Elspeth

Dear Dave and all the Doddy family
I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to all the family at the passing of your father. I had the opportunity to know him from my youth as he was our minor baseball coach many years ago at Jaycee Park and later in life we met at Holy Mass at St. Joseph's church many times and going for a coffee with him a few times. Be assured of our prayers for your dad. God did bless him with a long life. Take care Dave.

Doddy Family,
So sorry to hear of your father's passing. I remember him at daily Mass at Blessed Sacrament. He would always ask me how I was. I would say wonderful and he was so pleased to hear that. I have missed him these past years and would wonder where he went.. Now I know. A good man.
Holly, I taught you at Blessed Sacrament school years ago. I would ask your father where you went and I thought he said Windsor.
Peter and Christine we played tennis at Tecumseh also years ago. Christine I often read about your musical accomplishments.

In the 90's I used to walk my dog at the conservation area in Chatham and I met Peter and Fudge there. I knew him for several years until Fudge had a terminal splenic tumor. It was so devastating to Peter and the other dog walkers. Peter aiways spoke highly of his sonin law Kevin and of his grandson Alistar. Take care family and rest in peacr Peter. You were such a great guy!

Poem for Grandfather [great grandfather to Hope and Cassie] by Hope.
“Walking through Grief with Jesus”
Oh Lord I know I’m to be rejoicing because Grandpa has been embraced in Your arms
Though Father my heart mourns his absence
His witty jokes
The laughter he’d bring to the room
What a brave and honourable man
Now I have to go on without him
It hurts
How fast it was, he didn’t suffer
But how painful it is for this family
Let our family grieve together
Bring Your everlasting peace onto us Lord
I know we have stumbled and messed up so much
We are unworthy of Your love and acceptance but You still give
Let Great Grandpa Doddy be in our memories and hearts forever
Let us wait until the day we are reunited with Christ and see our beloved family
Jesus let us place our pain and sorrow in Your hands
Let us lean on You because this surpasses our understanding
By Hope

Peter was such a powerful father figure in my life. He taught me so much about how to live, through both advice and example, and I will never forget him. Above all, I will be unendingly grateful for the loving support he has given to our son, Alasdair.
This photo captures nicely the adoration of Peter and Betty at the time of Alasdair's birth. I remember that day like it was yesterday.
