Obituary of Father William "Bill" Capitano
Reverend William (Bill) Capitano passed away peacefully at Tilbury Manor in Tilbury, Ontario, on May 1, 2024, at age 83. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Gertrude (Watson). He is survived by his brother Frank and his wife Shawne, their daughters Betsy (Alec), Margaret (Scott), and Katherine (Nooch), his sister Anne Kelly, and her sons Jeff and Stephen (Julie). Father Bill will also be fondly remembered by his many cousins.
Father Bill was ordained a Roman Catholic priest at St. Peter’s Cathedral on May 28, 1966. He ministered in many parishes in the Diocese of London, including St. Michael’s (London), St. Patrick’s (Lucan), Our Lady of Lourdes (Comber) and St. Alphonsus (Windsor). Following his retirement from active parish duties he continued to assist at parishes in the Chatham and Windsor area. He served as chaplain for the Catholic Rural Life Conference and the Windsor and District Labour Council. These appointments reflected his strong commitment to social justice and environmental issues, topics on which he continued to educate himself throughout his life.
Father Bill will be remembered for his kind and generous spirit, by the many people he humbly served over the years and by many others whose hearts he touched along the way.

Visitation will take place Thursday May 9, 2024 at St. Joseph’s Church, 180 Wellington St. W., Chatham, Ontario at 10am to be followed by the Funeral Mass at 11am.
Interment to take place at a later date in St. Peter’s Cemetery, London.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Peter’s Seminary, London.
