Obituary of Molly Devolder
Peacefully surrounded by her family at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, on Wednesday May 8, 2024, Molly Aileen Devolder, age 87, of Dover Centre. Beloved wife of the late Andrew Devolder (2011). Born in Chatham in 1937, daughter of the late Nancy (Edds) and George Moon. Loving mother of Mike (Laurie), Bob (Diane), Rick (Christa) and Janet (Kirk) Earley. Cherished grandmother of 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Mary Manninger and sister-in-law of Rachelle (Edward) Keyserlingk. Predeceased by her granddaughter Becky Devolder (1988) and brother-in-law George Manninger.
Marrying a farmer and raising four children in Dover township proved to be a satisfying journey for Molly. Her transition from life in the city to a life in agriculture was oftentimes eye-opening and filled with humorous and rewarding memories for them all. While not afraid of hard work, Molly also made sure that her life and those around her were filled with fun and memorable adventures. Molly’s zest for life was irresistible.
Molly was cherished by all that knew her. She believed that life was meant to be lived and wholeheartedly embraced a lifetime of social events, road trips and quality time spent with both friends and family. Molly rarely missed an event and enjoyed filling her calendar with card games, bowling and golf outings. Known as an avid competitor, Molly was quick to challenge anyone to a game.
Molly’s greatest passion was her family. She was incredibly proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered for her strength of spirit and unconditional love, Molly made a lasting impact on everyone through her compassion and steadfast support of family during times of celebration and heartbreak. Family always came first.
Molly’s resilience to succeed and her wonderful sense of humour continue to shine through in her children today. She leaves behind a legacy of love, the satisfaction of hard work and the value of family.
