I remember playing with Kenny mostly in London at The Home County Folk Festival, and also a few more times in Chatham at the Arts Centre and in nightclubs in Windsor, usually with Pat on drums. One of the things that struck me most about him was his irreverent sense of humour, which always cut through any tension that may have been in the air before performances. As a leader I totally appreciated that. His piano playing was always strong, intelligent and fresh sounding. If he was in your band, the band swung! To me Ken Crone was hip without being a hipster, a very talented, original player and person and someone who was always fun to be around. I will greatly miss him and always hold him in high esteem.
My deepest condolences to his family,
Sincerely, Chris Robinson

Terribly sorry to hear of your loss, Pat, Mike and Carolyn. I remember so well your father’s chuckle and his great ability to enjoy and be amused by life. He was such a devoted father who immersed himself into the lives of his children. I can only imagine what an incredible, loving grandfather he was. I am happy that he had so much time with his family and that he was able to be such a strong presence in your lives. He will reside in your hearts always. I still picture him playing the sax while his son played the drums in the background. He was a constant presence at your hockey games, Pat, regardless of how far away you were. I hope with his loss come the memories of all the times he was there and how much joy he got from being with his family. Take Care!

An unforgettable man, and a true talent. He generously shared the stage with all manner of musician and made us all better players. The world is less musical, and some warmth has left too.

I am truly disheartened to hear that Mr. Crone has passed away. He was my piano teacher for approx 8 years from the early 70s to mid to late 70s. He was a firm but fair teacher but always made me feel accomplished. I learned so much from this man and offer my deepest condolences to his family for their loss of this great man. God Bless and may he RIP
Sincerely, Ann Behnke

My Mom adored Ken. First through her nursing friendship with Anastasia and then for years with the St.Ursula's choir. She always made it a point to attend Ken's local performances and got such a kick out of his sense of humour. Last year Mom was in the hospital with, as it turned out, days to live. One of her requests was to hear Ken's recent CD of music. Through heroic efforts by Ron Peseski and Gayla Cleeve, Mom heard her old friend's music just in time.
From the Cape girls to the Crone kids, wishing you happy memories of your Dad.

To all of the family, I am truly saddened to hear of Ken's (your Dad's) passing. Through my many years of lessons from him, he taught me the love of music, the love of jazz and a passion for music that became a career for me. I am immensely grateful for the skills he taught me and I can still hear his corny jokes!! I recently chatted with him at the Chatham Retirement Resort, and it was so great to see him again. I am sure he will be giving the angels a hard time in Heaven, he was quite a jokester! Many hugs to you all and I am sure you resting in the knowledge that your dad was an amazing man, musician and mentor!!

Sending our Sympathies to Bess & family, as well to Ken's family & loved ones. I had the pleasure of working for Ken & Bess in their home. They were so kind, warm hearted & fun loving people. Ken never passed up the chance to share a joke. I truly enjoyed Ken's music and he would often play a tune or two while I worked. Such a talented man that will be missed by many.
