Our most sincere condolences on the loss of Tony. We will always be tremendously grateful for his friendship to Dad.
We have often retold this story. Our Dad was not a hunter, but somehow Tony convinced him to go hunting. Tony would go to his hide; and Dad would stay close to the vehicle. After some time Tony returned to the vehicle and announced that he hadn't seen any deer. Meanwhile, Dad, who had been siting in the vehicle, had seen 3 deer cross closely in front of the vehicle. Dad just watched -- because he was only along for the ride - but he laughed about this story every single time that he told it.

Dear Mary and Family
Thank you for sharing Tony with us (the Chatham Concert Band) for so many years. Tony was a stalwart in our trombone section and we will all miss him. Tony was a true gentleman, a kind man with a warm smile and a good sense of humour (a prerequisite for playing in the Band!). Personally, I know I will miss Tony at those pre-parade breakfast “meetings” and all the good-natured teasing that would take place. He was our “Go-to Guy” when it came to all-things-Czech, and our Czech music repertoire will now have to be played without his Insight and translations (which we could never pronounce, anyway!).
While I never had Tony as a teacher when I attended Tecumseh Secondary School, I remember that those who did take his courses spoke well of him and enjoyed him.......understandably so.
The many fond memories will be with us for a long, long time and I am so glad that, despite his desire to “retire”, he agreed to play at our Christmas concert in December.....his last performance with the Chatham Concert Band. Thank you once again, and our sincerest condolences to all of you.

So sorry for your loss. I would run into Tony when I was walking my dog on the 7th line when I first moved to Stonegate Walk 14 years ago. Loved him. Such a gentleman. Talked to him last year when he was working on his lawn. He told me it was going to be the death of him trying to get his lawn back to his standards. It was driving him crazy. I will miss him very much. Always honked at me when I was walking my dogs.

I was good friends with Diane. I lived around the corner from her on Briar Hill. Her mom and ad were the nicest people. I actually had her dad for a drafting class at John McGregor.
I live down in New Mexico but ran into Diane at the 50th McGregor reunion several years ago.
Prayers and love to the family

To the Kurecka Family: I will always remember Tony& Mary from having coffee in McDonalds down in Treasure Island Fla.We would see them every year down south . Then I was their Letter Carrier in 2014&2015 and we would always talk. But there is one memory I will never forget of Tony. I was at the Tim Horton's on Park Ave and a person came up to me to ask about my Father George. It was 9 in the morning and the morning after he passed away. Tony was right behind me in LIne and heard what I said and He was very comforting to me at a time when I needed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Tony at venues where his grandson and my son played sports. He was a proud supporter who faithfully attended the games. I knew more of him from his daughter, a dear friend of mine. From Saturday morning coffees together, to daily walks with the family dog, to the low down on who best to repair vehicles - these were just a few of the many ways that Tony's care and love encompassed his family. My prayers are with the family as they grieve the loss of a wonderful man. There's a new angel in heaven watching over all of you. God Bless.
